Sewage System Upgrade

We have recently completed a major upgrade of our pub's sewage system, thanks to funding from Co-operative and Community Finance, Wiltshire Council, and our members.

A Klargester sewage treatment plant has been installed close to the garage and a grease trap sunk into the rear patio. Our old septic tank has been decommissioned. The sewage treatment plant will ensure that all the pub's sewage is treated to Environment Agency regulations and avoid the issues we were facing with the septic tank flooding with ground water in winter. The grease trap will ensure that any fat, oil or grease from the kitchen is disposed of correctly.
Co-operative & Community Finance provided us a loan package following on from the ‘More Than a Pub’ scheme that helped fund the purchase of our pub in 2018. Their legacy ‘More Than a Pub Fund’ scheme provides loan finance of between £75,000 to £150,000 available to Community Owned Pubs on a term ranging from five to twenty years.
Wiltshire Council provided us a grant through the Rural Prosperity Funds scheme. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural Prosperity Funds are part of the Government’s Levelling Up agenda, providing £2.6bn of funding for local investment across the UK from 2022 until March 2025. Wiltshire has been allocated £5.7m from UKSPF and a further £2.5m through the Rural Prosperity Funds.
